Keeping Pets Safe During Cold Weather

With the weather turning colder make sure you know how to keep your pets safe this winter.
Pets who sleep outside should have a shelter away from wind and rain.    It should be large enough for pets to get in and out of easily.   Consider adding warm bedding or straw as an insulator to keep pets comfortable and warm.     Heated floor mats, available in most pet supply stores, are another good option, but never use an electric heater – these can cause fires and are dangerous for pets and humans!
All pets need access to fresh water.   For pets who spend long hours outside, even during the daytime, this can be challenge during the winter months.   Even a thin layer of ice in a water bowl can keep pets from gettheated dog bowling the water they need.   A heated water bowl is a good option and can be found at most pet supply stores.

With a little planning your pets can stay safe and enjoy the great outdoors all year long.
